Asperger Syndrome
Asperger's syndrome (also referred to as Asperger's
disorder) is one of the five pervasive developmental disorders described
in the diagnostic manual published by the American Psychiatric
Association. The syndrome is characterized by significant difficulties
with social interaction and patterns of behavior, interests and activities
that best described as restricted, repetitive and stereotyped. The
diagnosis indicates that a person is experiencing serious difficulties in
these areas in their day-to-day living.
