The 1994 revision of the Diagnostic and
Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), known as the DSM-IV,
states there are five disorders identified under the category of Pervasive
Developmental Disorders: (1) Autistic Disorder, (2) Rett's Disorder, (3)
Childhood Disintegrative Disorder, (4) Asperger's Disorder, and (5)
Pervasive Developmental Disorder Not Otherwise Specified, or PDD-NOS. Source:

A group of local parents teamed up with
NEDSRA to
bring a local chapter of the
Autism Society
of Illinois (ASI) to the residents of northeast DuPage County.

and the Psychology Department at the University of Tennessee at Martin
are conducting a second survey on the causes of Autism Spectrum
Disorders (ASD). This survey is for mothers of children with ASD as well
as mothers of normally developing children who are ten years of age or
younger. Mothers who participate in the survey will receive a free ABA
program to teach their child to follow directions as well as free ABA
mini programs for common problems like sharing. To take the survey
