interviewed Dr. Mel Levine, author of "One Mind At A Time".
Dr. Levine explained there are several types of learning styles...
- Auditory learners; can absorb/comprehend what they
hear
- Visual learners; need to see it on paper or in action
- Hands-on learners; need to feel and/or do it
- Or, a combination of any or all of the above
He also explained child's mind are sometimes wired
differently, and it's up to us as parents, providers, and educators to
determine each child's individual way of learning, and adjust our teaching
approaches accordingly.
Dr. Levine also conducts training programs; "Schools
Attuned". The program trains teachers on how to tailor their
class to each student's strengths and weaknesses.
